The Canadian National Master Construction Specification (NMS) is a comprehensive master specification template developed and maintained by the federal government. Available in English and French, the NMS is a reference document for producing project-specific contract documents for both the public and private sectors. This presentation will provide an overview of the NMS, its background and how it’s developed. It will discuss the NMS content, its structure and the tools built-in to facilitate its use and integration with other contract documents. Finally, the presentation will introduce new NMS performance-based specifications which are slated for release in 2019.
Mr. Luc Pellerin, P.Eng., LEED AP, is a Technical Advisor with the Construction Research Center at the National Research Council Canada (NRC). He has over 15 years of experience in building electro-mechanical systems with a strong technical background in controls/automation, HVAC, and energy management. He works with industry professionals to develop NMS content related to facility services and commissioning.
